Changing the Announcement Tone

In EPIC you have the ability to change the announcement tone that EPIC plays as a precursor to someone making an announcement. By default this tone is a short monotone beep named beep.wav.

Follow these steps to upload a new SIP audio file, and setup EPIC and your devices to use the new audio file! We aim to add more audio files to this page for you to download and use in the future!

Step 1: Navigate to your Schools EPIC Server. This is usually an IP Address.

Step 2: Head to the "Settings" page on the left side.

Step 3: At the top, click into the "Audio" Tab

Step 4a: In the top right, click on the "Add" button.

Step 4b: A new menu will pop-up, here you can name your file, something like "new tone" should work.

Step 4c: Select the "Audio Source", you'll want to choose "File" to upload from your computer, the "Record" Audio Source is to record your own voice live, this is more useful for Bell Notifications which you can learn about in the Bells Help Page.

Step 4d: Choose your audio file, and make sure it is a .wav file for it to sound the best when played over the EPIC system.

Step 4e: Finally, be sure to select the Audio Type to be Sip and click Add.

Step 5: Now that the audio file is uploaded we can head over to the "Systems Settings" menu.

Step 6: On the new submenu that appears, click over to "SIP"

Step 7: Now that we're on this menu, there's yet another submenu, click over to the "Asterisk Basic" tab.

Step 8: Here on the "Asterisk Basic" tab, you'll notice a drop down menu for "SIP Tone" go ahead and change that drop down menu to your audio file that you just uploaded and click the "Save" button.

Step 9: Once the system finishes saving it should have kicked you back to the "Home" screen with the map of the building displaying. Go back into "Settings" then go over to the "Configure" area.

Helpful tip: If you're not sure what type of devices you have, you can go to the "Update" menu and click through the tabs, if devices appear in the list for the tab you clicked on, then you do have those devices, if the list area says "No data available in table" then you do not have those devices and don't need to worry about changing the "Beep on Call Answer" for that device type.

Step 10: On this menu, select the device type installed at your school, then under "Intercom and Paging" you will see a selection for "Beep on Call Answer" if this is already set to "From EPIC" then you should be good to go, if not, change it to "From EPIC" and "Save and Push Settings" to all devices.

Step 11: You will need to repeat Step 9 for all of your different types of devices. Pushing settings for MS500 is not the same as pushing settings for MS500a or MS300 etc.
